For the past 7+ years, I’ve built my career across South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, and Ghana, working in branding and marketing roles that taught me how to grow brands in very different cultures, customer behaviors, and market realities. That experience shaped how I think: marketing isn’t just “creative”—it’s strategy, positioning, and real execution that has to move people and move results. One of my proudest moments was being recognized by the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ) with a Best Marketer award in 2022, a milestone that still reminds me that the long nights, pressure, and constant learning actually meant something.
Now I’m building on that foundation with my Master of Science in Business Analytics at Seattle University, and honestly, it feels like the missing puzzle piece. I’m learning how to bring stronger evidence into decision-making, how to connect the story (brand + customer) with the numbers (data + measurement). I’m not leaving marketing behind; I’m upgrading it. The goal is simple: to keep doing what I’ve always done, build brands that win, but now with the added power of analytics, experimentation, and smarter measurement.

Hey Sineke,
This is so relatable!
I am also from a marketing background and like you said, this is not about leaving marketing behind but upgrading. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
